Chipotle Cultivate Fest
2014/08/23
We will be on tap at the Chipotle Cultivate Fest! chipotle-cultivate Chipotle Mexican Grill is planning a food and music festival at Loring Park this summer featuring five bands, local super chef demonstrations, artisan food, craft beer and wine. The Minneapolis Cultivate Festival is scheduled for Aug. 23. Admission is free. Spokesman Chris Arnold said festivals in other cities have drawn between 25,000 and 40,000 people. The Minneapolis festival features a who's who of the local chef scene. Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods, Jamie Malone of Sea Change, Jack Riebel ( formerly ofButcher and the Boar)Paul Berglund of The Bachelor Farmer and a couple of chefs from out of town will offer demonstrations. The band lineup is Portugal. The Man, Grouplove, The Mowgli's, Vintage Trouble and Hunter Hunted. Chipotle started the Cultivate Festival in Chicago in 2011. Minneapolis is one of three cities the Denver-based burrito chain chose this year. Chipotle will also host Cultivate Festivals in San Francisco and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Minneapolis was chosen because of its strong local food and music scene and because it's a strong Chipotle market, Arnold said. The Twin Cities was the chain's third market after launching in Denver and expanding to Kansas City. "It's a very established Chipotle market," he said. "Our restaurants do really well in Minneapolis. " Chipotle's national events manager, Scott Robinson, lives in the Twin Cities. Chipotle says the festivals will also feature demonstrations about genetically modified organisms, animal welfare and processed foods. “We are changing the way people think about and eat fast food, and that includes helping people understand more about how food is raised and prepared,” said Mark Crumpacker, Chipotle's chief marketing and development officer, in a  news release.
